Business Matters on Duncan Bannatyne joining our board

The business press caught up with the entrepreneur and philanthropist's arrival on our board in January 2024, eight months after the appointment was announced, and set out the shortage behind it.

Business Matters reported on Duncan Bannatyne OBE taking a non-executive seat on the Assisted Living Project board. The Scottish entrepreneur, author and philanthropist is known to most people as a long-running investor on the BBC's Dragons' Den.

The magazine framed the appointment around the shortage it addresses, citing government figures of 16 million people living with disabilities in the UK and nearly 1.2 million people aged 65 and over who do not receive the care support they need. What is missing, on those numbers, is homes for people living with long-term disability and enduring illness.

The organisation's commitment to improving the quality of life for the individuals they serve aligns perfectly with my own values. I look forward to working closely with the team and leveraging my expertise to contribute to the growth and success of the Assisted Living Project.

Bannatyne's appointment as a non-executive director was first announced in May 2023; the January 2024 coverage marked his formal introduction to the wider business press.
