Metro's Q&A with Duncan Bannatyne

In Metro's print edition of 19 February 2024, the former Dragons' Den investor was asked what wealth is really for. Part of his answer was a visit to one of our buildings.

Metro's daily print edition of 19 February 2024 carried an interview with Duncan Bannatyne across pages 12 and 13. It was a conversation about money and what a lifetime of building businesses is finally for. The Scottish entrepreneur, author and former Dragons' Den investor had joined the Assisted Living Project board as a non-executive member the year before.

Asked why he had got involved, his answer turned on a visit rather than a balance sheet. He had come to meet some of the people living in ALP's buildings, and it was that visit, he told the paper, that settled the question.

One tenant in particular stayed with him.

I met Jay, one of ALP's care provider tenants, who has faced challenges in the care system, moving between hostels. Thanks to their support, Jay's life took a positive turn. He found stability, happiness and improved mental wellbeing through accommodation tailored to his needs.

That is the whole argument for this work, put more plainly than we usually manage: a person who had been moved from place to place, and then was not. The full Q&A, including Bannatyne's answer on the UK property market as an investment, appeared in Metro's print edition of 19 February 2024, pages 12 and 13.
